293 One Ox
Pastor Ronald was visiting a missionary friend in Southeast Asia. As they were walking to a village where the missionary was evangelizing at, Pastor Ronald came across a curious sight. He saw a young man pulling a yoke in a field with an older man pushing the plow behind him.
The missionary noticed Pastor Ronald's puzzled expression and explained that those two men in the field were newly converted Christians. They sold their only ox in order to help raise money to build a church in the village.
Pastor Ronald marveled at this commented on such a great sacrifice these two poor men made, since that ox was probably the main source of their livelihood. However, the missionary corrected Pastor Ronald and said that these two men did not think giving up their only ox as a sacrifice. Rather, they told the missionary that they felt that they were blessed by God to be given an ox that could be sold to help raise money for the church.
