Genesis

Genesis is the book on beginnings—the beginning of the world, the human race, and civilization itself. In fact, Genesis covers the history of the world from its creation right on to the time of Moses—about 1500 B.C.

The book of Genesis includes accounts of such things as:

  • the world's first temptation to sin
  • the first murder
  • the great Flood of Noah
  • the scattering of mankind from the Tower of Babel.

Genesis also includes stories about the heroes of faith such as:

  • Abraham
  • Isaac
  • Jacob
  • and, of course, Joseph.

A knowledge of these subjects makes it easier to understand the teachings of Jesus and the apostles in the New Testament.

Though Genesis was written by Moses more than 3,000 years ago, it speaks pointedly and helpfully to many of the critical issues in our own lives. While Genesis is an ancient book—it is still a relevant book for our time.
